Perception of rural and urban population on generic and branded drugs

Generic medicines are identical/ clone to an innovator or product brand name. After expiration of patent terms the product, other pharmaceutical companies usually apply drug regulatory bodies for approval market generic versions innovator's drugs. drugs in were sold under non-proprietary name Drugs and form a significant portion out pocket (OOP) expenses Indian households. In order resolve this issue, Government India launched Jan Aushadhi Scheme (JAS) provide inexpensive patients. A separate interview was conducted illiterate people Google forms forwarded through whatsapp literates, both contain same questions exclude bias. Both literates illiterates almost 49% preferred branded due trust, quality, efficacy, nearly 38% purchase medications based on availability remaining 13% various reasons like cost effectiveness, as quality effectiveness.
